According to news media outlets, the Chinese government has dealt a blow to gaming and esports culture by placing harsher restrictions on the hours and accessibility of video games play for the countries youth. Reports outline that gamers under the age of 18 will have a hard curfew between 10:00 pm and 8:00 am, a total of 90 minutes on weekdays, and up to 3 hours on weekends and public holidays. In addition, gaming company giants like Tencent will require that players divulge their real identities while using their platforms. The country also has limited the number of monthly funds that gamers under the age of 18 can transfer into their gaming accounts.
